Nellie K, LISW-S, CCTP-II, EMDR Certified

Nellie received her bachelor’s degree in social work from Capital University and her master’s degree in social work with a clinical concentration from Cleveland State University. She is a licensed independent social worker with a supervisory designation. She is a Certified Clinical Trauma therapist, and is certified in eye movement desensitization reprocessing (EMDR).

Her area of specialty is working with those with PTSD and big “T” trauma histories, including sexual, physical, verbal abuse; sexual assault, and domestic violence, as well as small “t” trauma histories that result from impactful incidences. She also counsel those suffering from depression, anxiety, addiction, grief issues, adjustment difficulties, and spiritual trauma.

She felt a profound calling to do this work after having experienced significant events within her family and her subsequent healing through counseling and people of faith. She began her career serving some of the poorest neighborhoods of Cleveland doing Crisis intervention counseling with those who had suffered significant trauma and has since worked in community agencies, outpatient hospital settings, and private practice for over 20 years.

Cooperating with God’s grace, she later returned to school to earn a certificate in Spiritual Direction from the Heart of Christ/Avila Institute School of Spiritual Formation to better serve the Catholic/Christian faithful.
